Elementary School Principal - Mrs. Sandy Byrd

    Evangel Christian Academy Elementary is exceedingly blessed to be led by an incredible educator and woman of God, Mrs. Sandy Byrd. Students, parents, and faculty are always greeted with a  warm smile from Mrs. Byrd, the elementary principal for the last 4 1/2 years.

    Mrs. Byrd did her undergradute work at LSUS. She then received her teaching certificate from Centenary College, where she also earned her Master’s of Education degree in Administration. It was not teaching, however, that initially brought her to ECA. Sandy was first an Evangel parent when she enrolled her son, Cal, in 1983. Cal, a graduate from Evangel, is now a lawyer in Dallas, happily married, and the father of Mrs. Byrd’s only grandchild, Barrett. Mrs Byrd is married to Eddie, and also has a beautiful daughter, Angelica, a 7th grader  at Evangel.

    Mrs. Byrd has worn many hats over the years in service to our school. She has taught kindergarten, first grade, and grades 7-12. In 1994 she helped to establish the NILD program here at Evangel which assists students with learning difficulties. She served as Social Studies Department Head before becoming the assistant principal of the middle school from 1994-2000.  Mrs.  Byrd was also actively involved in the recent SACS-CASI accreditation  progress.

    Dedicated to the education of children, Mrs. Sandy Byrd is a true servant leader.  She is driven by a passion to see kids and their families become everything God has destined them to be.  She is committed to ensuring that Evangel students reach their full potential academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  Her tender heart, ready smile, and infectious love for Christ and people set her apart for greatness in the kingdom of God.
