Freshman and Sophomore
Years Calendar
Freshman Year
- Since 98% of ECA students are college bound, take as many college
preparatory classes as possible.
Establish the strongest possible academic record.
- Select activities, both formal and informal, in school and outside
of school, which will permit you to broaden your horizons. Extracurricular
activities are important when applying for scholarships.
- If chosen for district or state academic rallies, do your best.
Placement in state competition is certainly a strength in scholarship
competition.
- Start exploring career and college options. Talk to your family
or school counselor about career and college desires.
Sophomore Year
- Continue the steps from freshman year.
- Intensify your exploration of colleges and careers by visiting
schools or by writing for information.
- Colleges will send you scholarship and admission information
if you ask.
- Take the PLAN. It is imperative that you do your best and take
the test with seriousness. Preliminary tests such as PLAN and
PSAT prepare you for future tests such as the ACT and SAT.
- Keep up your GPA and extracurricular activities.
