COLLEGE PLANNING CALENDAR
FOR SENIORS
August
- Register for ACT and SAT 1 as soon as possible. (Registration
packets are in the office.)
- Make a calendar to keep up with admissions, scholarships, financial
aid, and housing. Create a resume!
- Visit with your counselor.
- Review the college and scholarship information forwarded to
the English IV classroom.
- Remember that most universities will see your first semester
grades…so STUDY.
September
- Enjoy the Labor Day Weekend!
- Have your college search narrowed down to 5 colleges.
- Request necessary applications from the 5 colleges.
- Check on the deadlines for the 5 colleges.
- Begin requesting recommendation letters from teachers and other
adults.
- Begin your college essays.
- Register by September 7th for the October 9th SAT.
- Register by September 17th for the October 23rd ACT.
- Register by October 1st for the November 6th SAT.
- Spend time studying foe the standardized tests.
- Begin visiting college campuses.
- Meet with your college advisor to discuss options.
October
- Continue with your college visits.
- Take the ACT on October 23rd.
- Take the SAT 1 on October 9th.
- Have your test scores sent to your high school. (school code
192-671)
- Attend local Caddo/Bossier College Fairs.
- Watch bulletin boards for scheduled visits from university representatives.
November
- Take the SAT on November 6th.
- Continue completing applications.
- Register by October 29th for the December 4th SAT.
- Register by November 5th for the December 11th ACT.
- Continue college visits.
December
- Take the SAT on December 4th.
- Take the ACT on December 11th.
- Study for exams!
- Have a great Christmas.
January
- Request semester transcripts be sent to several colleges.
- Register by January 7th for the February 12th ACT.
- Pick up Financial Aid packets from the student office.
- Fill out your income tax forms ASAP. (You will need the information
to complete the FASFA.)
- Inform your counselor of any acceptance letters and/or scholarships
you have received.
- Take the SAT on January 22nd.
February
- Register by February 7th for the February 12th ACT.
- If you completed the FASFA, you should be receiving a report
within four weeks.
- Take the ACT on February 12th.
- Check on scholarship opportunities.
March
- Register by March 4th for the April 9th ACT. (This is the last
test accepted by TOPS for fall.)
- Take the SAT on March 12th.
- Stay focused and keep studying.
- Register by March 25th for the May 7th SAT.
April
- Take the ACT on April 9th. (Last test accepted by TOPS)
- If more than one college has accepted you, and you know which
college you plan to attend, let the other university know that
you are attending another college.
- Most universities will require a decision by May 1st.
- Register by April 29th for the June 4th SAT.
May
- Notify the college that you wish to attend, and notify all
other colleges that you are attending another school.
- Request a final transcript from your counselor’s office
to be sent to your chosen school.
- Register by May 6th for the June 11th ACT.
- Take the May 7th SAT.
- Take AP/CLEP tests.
- GRADUATE!!!!!!!!
June
- CONGRATULATIONS!
- Take the June 4th SAT (if necessary)
- Take the June 11th ACT (if necessary)
- Shop for college stuff.
- Attend Orientation.
